Good evening District 27. I just got home from the Famers Market at the city park in Martin. Five vendors sold various food products including sourdough bread, honey, jams, beef, pork, poultry, corn, and other farm-fresh garden products. There was even a kid's lemonade stand available.
I was able to pick up a loaf of Sid's sourdough bread baked fresh from Sidney Wangerin located three miles east of Martin. It was a big loaf and must have weighed 2 pounds. It is delicious, especially when heated up. Cost: $10. I also picked up a pound of grass-fed ground beef (95/5) on sale from Primal Plains located south of Martin (Fairhead Ranch) on the Nebraska-South Dakota border. Cost: $4.50/lb. See the posted photo.
Hopefully, more farmers/ranchers will participate as the fall harvest is around the corner. I look forward to obtaining more fresh farm products from our local area farmers and ranchers. The farmers market is open from 3 to 6 PM on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from June to September at the City Park in Martin.
I love attending our local farmer's market and I appreciate what these folks are doing for our local community. They are the backbone of the local economy of this district. Thanks to all the vendors who work hard to sell their homegrown and farm-fresh products. If elected as your state senator, I will promote legislation that supports our local Ag producers. God bless.
