Good afternoon District 27. Happy Statehood Day! Today we commemorate the 135th anniversary of South Dakota’s admittance into the union on November 2, 1889. We share this anniversary day with North Dakota – our sister state to the north of us. Today, it remains a mystery as to which of the two states came into the union first since legend has it that President Harrison shuffled the statehood papers before signing them. Since the letter “S” comes after “N” in the alphabet, South Dakota is known as the 40th state to enter the union.
It would be an honor and a privilege to be the voice of ALL of District 27 as your South Dakota State Senator in the 100th Legislative Session in our State Capitol starting on January 14, 2025. With your vote on November 5th, you can help me accomplish this goal. Have a great weekend. God bless.
