Good morning District 27. Driving across the district this weekend, I noticed farmers were busy with the fall harvest. It is a fun time of year and a race against the clock to get the crops in before the first snowfall. It's also a time to reflect and give thanks for the many blessings received from the works of our labor. I saw two flocks of geese flying south yesterday which means winter is on its way. Hopefully, later than sooner.
Today is T-30 days until the November 5th General Election. I thought I would share a pic of me standing in a field of harvested corn at the Corny Beef, Inc. Farm near Vetal, South Dakota. In October 2021, I helped Paul and Mary Ann Fanning with their corn harvest. I enjoyed working in the field and driving the semi-truck fully loaded with corn back to the farm to empty into the grain bins. It would be the last harvest before Paul and Mary Ann retired. I would get a rush driving the truck back and forth to unload in time to get another load of corn out of the grain cart. It brought back fond memories of me growing up on the farm.
Family farmers and ranchers will have an advocate in the legislature if I am elected your state senator. Inscribed on Paul's license plate on his pickup are the words "I Feed U." Our farmers and ranchers do feed us; therefore, they need a strong advocate in the state legislature since our food supply is a matter of national security. Cheers to a bountiful harvest. God bless.
