The Crushing Truth of the State of Our Local Economy (Part 1)

Good evening District 27. This afternoon I got a few groceries at the local supermarket here in Martin. See the posted photos of what I bought along with the receipt. I purchased six items at a cost of $11.87 (including the 6.2% sales tax).  I am presently working on a story of how the current Biden-Harris administration is crushing the working class with its bad economic policies, especially at the grocery store. Therefore, I thought I would perform my own local investigation to see how badly things have gotten in the past five years since pre-Covid (2019) by making a comparison to today's food prices.

I began by gathering up a few of my Lynn’s Dakotamart grocery receipts from 2019 from April through July. I randomly selected items that I knew the grocery store would continue to stock on their shelves. I then made a price comparison of these same 18 items at the local grocery store today. To put it bluntly, it was shocking how much our widows, single-parent families, young married couples with kids, retirees, elderly, those on fixed incomes, and the unemployed or disabled are paying for their groceries. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s “rest of the story” as to what I discovered from my investigation. God bless.

District 27 State Senate Candidate Anthony Kathol heading to the local grocery store to obtain some grocery items and to perform an investigation as to how bad the current administration's economic policies are destroying working class Americans.

Six grocery items I purchased today at Lynn's Dakotamart. The three cans of tuna and ice cream were on special for the week. The milk and chips were regular price.

My receipt for the six food items (August 15, 2024).
